Hi I'm Gianluca and i'm very excited to finally get to talk about this book with you. My emotional respone would be that it is very sad that eventhough sam's father gave him everything he still wants to risk it all for his country. I respect that but i still think its sad. I think i would side with sam because if he didn't help to fight for our freedom we might never be free.

I think that the statement that Mr. Meeker said was towards all wars because why should people die
and suffer if all there problems can be solved without war and violence. If this can be accomplished
there would be alot more world peace. I liked this chapter because it really shows the different ways
people thought back then about war and just normal life. It also shows how differently Sam and his
    father think.

If I was in Tim's place I wouldn't tell my father because I had promised Betsy that I wouldn't and I also wouldn't want Sam and my father to get into a fight again. Betsy's role in this story so far is that she is the person that is informing Tim on where Sam is, what he is doing, and when he will come back. My opinion on Betsy is that she is a patriot and that she is a very good friend to Sam.

When the officers were interacting with Mr. Meeker, I thought that they might have killed him because he was spitting and talking back at them. I would have done the same thing as Tim because it probebly would have been the only way to save Tim's father. I felt sad when Sam took the gun back from Tim because it probebly ment that Sam was going back to the war and that he might not help Tim. The next words Father would have said to Sam if he had said was that he was very glad to see him again and that he is never going back to that war. Tim calls Sam a coward because he wont help save father's life because he is scared that he will be hanged if the Continentals saw him. I dont think he was a coward because I would be scared to if I knew I would die for it and also it is a brave thing to fight for your countries freedom.

Tim changed because he started to see how the war was and relised that he didnt know anyone in it. That the people in the war are complete strangers to him. This quote is true because war is a very scary and bad place. It is where the only way you can survive if you kill every other man in your way. that is why the war makes lines of ink across the map turn red. I think by the end of this chapter that Mr. Hearon is very tricky. I think when nobody is looking he will trick them all into doing something they were going to regreat.

My opinion on Tim's actions was that I think that he made a bad decision to trust Mr. Heron by attempting to take the letter to Fairfield. I do not trust Mr. Heron because he is very smart and tricky and will make Tim do something he shouldn't do. My reaction to the struggle was that ia was shocked that Betsy would want to see the letter that bad and that Tim wouldn't give it to her which showed that he was going against his brother Sam.

The war is affecting Tim's family because it is making them feel scared and worried about Sam and that it is dangerous even to go sell cattle because of cow-boys. It is affecting my family by making us feel sad that some many young people are dying so that we could accomplish what we want without trying to do it a less violent way. I am sad for all the troops that are dying in the war and shocked at how the war could make the lives of people change so dramatically.

Tim thinks that the war is bad and that there should be a beter way to solve there problems. Tim has not made up his mind on what side he's on because he is not sure which side is fighting for the better cause. My emotional reaction to this chapter was that I am happy that they got the cattle to the place safely.

I think that the cow-boys captured him and are going to kill him. This will brake Tim's heart because his father was the only person he could talk to and it will kill him. I feel sorry for Tim because alot of emotional things are going on in his life and he doesn't need this right now.

Tim says that statement because he has never lossed anything from being under the British rule and that the war is a waste of time and lives. He believes that thare is always a less violent way to solve problems. He believes this now more then ever because he has lost half his family already to the war, his father and brother Sam.

What Tim means by something big is that Sam believes that he is part of the big thing being under which is the army that will bring him and his country free from British rule. My emotional reaction to this chapter that is that I am happy that Tim gets to see Sam again and sad that Sam wouldn't come home everthough their father was missing.

The statement means that people are fighting for the lives of others, to kepp them alive, and free. I think that it is wrong that someone has to die in order for someone else to live if it could have that same solution if someone doesn't die.

Those words might have inspired the soldiers like Sam because they believed that they should live and die for their country inorder to become free. My emotional reaction is that I am very sad that they are going to put Sam to death eventhough they didn't do anything.

    Patrick Henry Limerick

Patrick Henry was an ordinary American man,
As a storekeeper and tobacco farmer he began,
"Give me liberty or give me death" he proclaimed,
This line gave him alot of fame,
Which summarizes what it means to be an American.

The irony os Sam's dead was that he had done nothing wrong, got accused of stealing he's own cattle when he was actually trying to stop the real theives, and he had served in the war for three years on their side and now they are going to kill him. It is similar to what happened to father because they both died trying to do what was good and did nothing wrong. I am very sad that they killed Sam in such a brutal way eventhough he had been so loyal to them and did nothing wrong.

    1. My reaction to the statement was that I thought it was very true because they didn't have to kill and fight in a war in order to become free. I don't think that there was another way to become free because they had tried to make a peace treaty with Britten but they denied it so there was no other way.
    2. I thougnt it was a great novel but it was also very sad and emotional. I thought that the facts about the real Revolution were very clear and accurate. It overall was a good book to read and I especially liked how that there was an epiloge at the end.
