1. The authors of this wonderful piece of writing, James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier, put many lessons in this book. Not the kind of lessons about algebra or cells the life lessons that you can only get from a book. In this book there are many truths and many lies that are showed about mankind. This book shows the cruelness of war. It also shows that life, like war is never fair. I think that James Lincoln and Christopher Collier were trying to say that war is never the answer. War is always wrong and it always gets many people killed. Just like Father, Sam, Jerry Stanford, Ned and countless others died in the book. War will never be right no matter how much time passes on this Earth. I only hope that one day we can find a way to settle things peacefully between everyone.
2. This book was very interesting and well written. I could understand all of the words that the authors used and I got a bright picture in my mind with every sentence. I personally liked all of the history that was incorporated into the telling of this story. Since this book had real historical characters in it we learned about a lot of real events through a fictional story about the Revolution. It was cool to be given an idea about how life was back then for kids our own age. Is was so different than it is today. I learned about the Revolutionary War behind the cover of a fictional story. Another thing that I liked about the book are the characters in the story. We all connected in a way with the whole Meeker family and with all of the characters in the book. All of us were very concerned with the welfare of Tim and Sam. I personally almost cried when Sam died.
3. The person from our sister school who I relate to the most is Nova. She and I have similar opinions on Tim and Sam. I liked what she said on Tim choosing sides. He wouldn't be able to join the British because he wouldn't be able to shoot Sam if he ever faced him in battle. Tim also can't fight at all because his father is against war of all kinds. Although I agree with Nova on a lot of things she said if I were Tim I don't think that I could have smashed cups over the Patriots heads and then tied them up! I would have been to scared to even move. Another thing that I liked that Nova wrote was her interpretation of the poem by Myra Mannes. The idea that the British were the strangers who had made the boarders was very interesting. I really hope that I get to meet Nova and everyone else. It has been really fun doing this project with everyone and I hope we can do it again!

1.) One of the reasons why the authors wrote the book is to inform people on what life was during the American Revolution. The
main message was the effects of the war. Sometimes war effects both sides negatively. In this book, the Patriots and the Tories
faced many challenges.
2.) I liked how this book showed how the people lived during colonial times. It was interesting to read about a little town that was actually rea. I think that the Collier brothers did a good job interpreting the lives of people. They really brought Redding, Connecticut to life.
3.) I agreed with Craig/Stephen from BHS. We both had similar opinions about the novel.

The authors message is about exseating in what you sart in ,if something happenes it happpenes. The theme to the readers is about the war, and how youn go there for your country and the freedom for your country too. What i like about the book is that Tim always trying to act like is brother at all times, and how it is on the war, and that is whhat really makesd it exciting. I agreed with HAiley cuase she is always right about what happenes in the story and how she wrights is really ceative. It always sounds like shey is into the book. I also agree with Hailey too cause she alwaysthinks how i think about the story ''that's

I think that the authors wrote this book for a couple of reasons. Those reasons being, to teach us what war does to families and the effects of war. i think that their message was that war is never a good thing, but sometimes it needs to happen. This book teaches us what a war can do to the relationship of a family, and how it can tear them apart. I liked that this book was written from a person that was living at that time and was going through the hardships of war, point of view. This book war interesting and I think that it taught us all about how life really was during the Revolutionary War. This is a great book for someone who is really interested in reading about historical events, even though I'm not one of those people. My Brother Sam is Dead was ok, considering I don't like reading historical books that much. I think that the BHS student that I related to the most was James. When ever I read one of James’s comments, I mostly agreed. I think that he had most of the opinions of this book as I did.
