The comment Mr. Meeker made does not only apply to fighting with England because there will always be things that we may not agree with. Fighting should never be your first alternative when things turn sour, but sometimes fighting is required.
Chapter two gave a lot more information about the area Timmy lives in, and his neighbors. Although the beginning was a bit humdrum, I felt awful for Tim when he was asked to choose between his brother's side, and his father's. Sam and his father have very strong opinions, and you can see it is taking a toll on Timmy.

Hi! My name in Gabby, and I am 12 years old. I like sports, and school too.
I thought that the chapter was mediocre. There wasn't anything that really excited me, but it held my interest.
Personally, I would have sided with Sam. I don't think it's fair for someone to rule over others from so far away, and living in such different conditions.

If I were put in Tim's position I would keep Sam's return a secret. Telling my father about the return of my brother might just make things worse then they are now. Betsy has been helpful to Tim, because she was the one who informed him his brother was home. In my opinion, though, I find Betsy to be a little annoying, and noisy. She is always hanging around trying to find out whats going on, and I don't think she should be concerning herself in the Meeker's business. I think the way I would fare would depend on my standing in the American Revolution. Over all I don't find the chapter to be very exciting, but it was nice to hear that Sam had returned.

Hey guys!!!
1. During the time the rebels were questioning Mr. Meeker about having a weapon, I was nervous that he was going to be hurt. If I were Tim, I think it would be a hard decision to make, but I think I would do what he did, except for when he stole the Brown Bess. When Sam took the gun back, I was scared. I was afraid that the gun might have accidentally gone off, if Sam was lying about it not being loaded.
2. If Sam had decided to stay, I think that Father may have told him he was sorry, and that he loved him.
3. Tim calls Sam a coward because it seemed that he was afraid of the Patriots he was serving, that they may hurt him if they found out he had left, so scared, that he would let them hurt his father. In my opinion, Sam is and isn't a coward. I think he is brave in the sense that he would fight in the war for his freedom. He does come across as a coward, though, when he said that he couldn't stay at college because all his friends had left for the war. It seem that he was afraid of what they might think if he hadn't.

Hi!!
1. I think that having the Patriots confront his father in the last chapter is what changed Timmy's feelings. Now it is evident that the war was taking place, and that his decisions are being taken more seriously. For example, the offer from Mr. Heron could get Tim into a lot of trouble, depending on his decision.
The poem is true because I think it is our feelings that divide us, not who we are, we draw the "borders". When we cross each other and fight, there can be terrible out comes.
2. Mr. Heron seem to be used to getting his way, and doesn't like it when Mr. Meeker argues with him. I personally don't like him. He could be the creator of trouble in the future.

HEY GUYS!!
1 Tim acted a lot like Sam in this chapter. He seemed very thick headed, and stubborn. Although it was against his fathers wishes, he decided to deliver the letter from Mr. Heron, with out knowing the consequences. Personally, I would not trust Mr. Heron. He was a friend of the Meekers, but when he found out information of the Patriots location, he was willing to injure Sam. He was also comfortable that Timmy disobeyed his father, in order to deliver his message. I was surprised by how Timmy stuck up from himself. I couldn't believe that he was willing to hurt Betsy, and that Betsy was willing to hurt Tim. I doubt that their falling out will be easily mended. They may be angry at each other for a long time.

Hi everyone!
1.a) The war is affecting the Meeker family in many ways. Mr. and Mrs. Meeker have to worry about their son fighting in the war. It is also straining their relationship, because they both have different ways to handle the situation. It is making life harder for them. they are not able to due things that they used to do, without worrying.(trip to Verplancks Point)
b) The war in the Middle-East is affecting my family and I in many ways. It is so sad to hear about how many people that have been killed fighting for our country. We also have a lot of money going to the war that we could be using if this war had never started in the first place.

Hi!
1 a) I think Timmy has many mixed emotions about the war. The war is being made more and more present in his life every day, but the full effects have yet to reach Redding.
b) Tim is unsure of his side, even though he told his cousin he would side with the Patriots. What if he had to face his brother in the war, could he handle that?
c) The chapter went into a lot of detail of how hard life was at that time. I don't know if I would be able to walk through a foot of snow! I am excited to see if Tim and his father run into the cow-boys again, or if they make it home safely.

HEY!
1 a) Well, it is obvious that Mr. Meeker has been taken by the patriots, but I am not sure if they have killed him yet. Perhaps they have kept him to receive more information, or as hold as a hostage.
b) Timmy will be affected greatly by this experience. Now he and him mother will have to do more work around the tavern, and I think it will hurt the family emotionally as well.
c) To me, this chapter was very exciting. I was very so happy that Tim had created a plan in order to free himself from the Patriots. It was very smart of him. I also though he was very brave to confront them, with the chance that they may take him too. He even walked by himself in the snow, which was very impressive!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!<3
1 I think Tim is still to young to understand whats going on. It may have seemed like they were free, but the colonies lacked powers that they could have if they were independent. Tim still isn't old enough to understand that because he hasn't been faced with the many problems he will have to face as an adult under British rule.

Hey!
1 a)b When Tim says something big he means that Sam is part of something bigger the himself or his family. He really feels needed, and excited to fight. He wants to fight, and although he loves his family, nothing they do can stop him from fighting.
b) i was glad that S am was still alive, but I feel bad that Jerry never returned home. I hope he does soon.

Hi!
1 The statement "In war the dead pay debts for the living" means that war is a brutal battle that is not always carried out fairly. Sometimes innocent people die instead of people who have done a lot of wrong. Therefor , they are paying the debts for the people who are still living.
2 it was very upsetting to here about the deaths of Father and Jerry. I also hope that Sam is okay. It worried me to learn he might have to pay for what the cattle thieves did.

Hello!
1 The words "Give me liberty or give me death!" might inspire someone like Sam because they are very inspiring words. To see someone so dedicated to their country that they would rather did is touching.
2 I hope that General Putnam decides to let Sam live, although I don't believe he will. I also hope that Mother does not lose it if he does. Timmy has lost just as many people as she has, and for him to have to lose him mom too would be devastating.

Hey!
Here is my Patrick Henry limerick
Patrick Henry was born in 1736
His words, "Give me liberty of give me death!" arose many conflicts
To the Patriot's cause he did belong
He believed the British king committed many wrongs
Then his death in June added to peoples emotions that were already mixed
Hope you like it :-P

Hi!
the irony of Sam's execution was that he was killed for a crime he didn't commit. Mr Meeker and Sam are moth an example of the statement "In war the dead pay debts for the living". I was very upset when Sam died, but the title of the book is My brother Sam is DEAD.

Hey!
I agree with the statement that the older Timmy makes. I think if our leaders met with the British leaders, we might have been able to create a compromise, and spare many lives. Overall, the book was mediocre. I found certain parts to be very exciting, and others dull. I enjoyed working on the book with Bay Head School, and hearing their opinions
