For me, there was nothing emotional in the first chapter.
I would agree with Sam because the Patriots have the idea of freedom. They should fight for their freedom and what they believe in. Sam also has good points about fighting for freedom.

What i think Mr Meeker meant by "But you never get rid of injustices by fighting" is that fighting doesn't settle problems. The problems will still exist even after a war is fought. War doesn't always solve the wrongs in the world.
I thought that Chapter 2 was good. The beginning was a bit boring though, since it didn't really have much excitment. Although towards the end it got better. I wonder what side will Tim choose.

If i was in Tim's place i wouldn't tell that Sam came back because Mr Meeker might try to look for him, and they may get into another fight. It would only cause more conflict between father and son and make things worse.
I think Betsy's role is to be an watchful eye for the Patriots.
