Hi, my name is Kevin. I am 13 years old. I am eager to read this book and share thoughts to others. I personally expected My Brother Sam is Dead to be exciting adventure in the mind of the reader. So far it hasn't impressed me as much as the previous book I have read. However, I only read a few pages. The rest should be intresting. All ideas and thought are welcomed about the book! Thanks

So far, I have no strong emotional thoughts about the current situation. Except, I am a strong supporter of Sam. He might have been rude to his father, but it was all for his believe of freedom. He obviously knows what he's doing is right. His father, Mr. Meeker, said that the Patriots are fighting over taxes, and believes that the war has no meaning. He is wrong in the eyes of Sam.

Mr.Meeker quoted a statement that was about fighting never solves injustice. This quote can apply to wars in general. Many times lives are lost in bloody wars, and thoughts of peace with the enemy is lost. Some wars can be resolved peacefully, but sometimes they have to be fought to protect rights and people.

Tims has a position that i wouldn't take. However, If I was in his place I would keep all the promises I've made and not tell father. Besideds, Sam is going to war to fight for his believe, and he'll need a weapon. Although emotions are roaming in the air, it is vital to do what is right. Betsy's role is to inform Tim on many things of Sam. She is a loyal friend and patriot.

The interaction between the officer and Mr. Meeker is a frightening situation. Tim's action would probably the thing i would do. It might've been a way to avoid any criminal charges against Mr.Meeker. I think fathers next words would be a sign of affection towards his son. He might've said "I am happy that you came home. The fact that Tim called Sam a coward really shows to sides of the situation. I believe Sam is not a coward. The fear of any sign of treason really would hurt me inside, because of the believe in a new nation. So therefore Sam is trying to protect his strong believe.

I think that The action proposed to Tim, by Mr.Heron, would change Tim's mind. This "business" to fairfield would affect Tim strongly. The war actually does affect other people. The war generates a story of freedom and justice. Mr. Heron is indeed a sly person in my opnion. He probably has an intellectual mind that sets up a plan to trick people.

Trusting Mr.Heron is a mistake in my opnion. He is to intelligent in the art of tricking and manipulating people for his own works. The scuffle with Betsy and Tim was suprising. Mr.Heron could be a traitor because of using Tim as a tool.

Tim's family has really changed by the war.The mental thoughts of the Meekers is changing to adapt to the current situation. People are being questioned for their loyalty, and drastic changes are happening. The cowboy situation is an example. The middle-east fighting is not really affecting my family. The war, however, is really the key to our safety. If a member of my family is in the battlefield then this would be a diferent story.

Tim has not decided on what side he is on. Although he does not fully commit himself as a loyalist, he truly does not know. This chapter really shows Tim's undeciding mind.
