There are many lessons that you learn in war. The book shows that war can be cruel in many ways, physically and mentally. It was both for the Meeker family. It was physical because Sam died and Life died and that was physical pain for them and mental pain for the family. It also shows how life isn't fair to people like Tim because in the war his father and brother die and there was nothing he could do. It also shows the ugly side in people because it makes people leave their families.
I like that Tim was very brave and when he needed to be a man he did. For example when his father and brother were gone he had to run the tavern and the cattle and crops. He also took many risks that wouldn't dare take such as when he saw the cowboys he didn't go a different way he went right towards them and made them run away. Also he tried to brake Sam out and almost killed a solider and almost got killed himself and was not scared. He also confronted General Putnam and told him in a very commanding voice to not kill his brother and to let him go, but that didn't change his mind.He also had the guts to see his brother die and
He screamed, "Don't shoot him."
I could never watch one of my brothers die in front of me and scream out something.
The person I mainly agree with is Olivia W. she had mainly the answers I had but the ones that i had different i agreed with more. I do agree with Olivia W. in chapter 14 when they all thought that he was going to be hung but i think that they were mainly praying that nothing would happen to him and he could come home.

I thought there were many lessons in My Brother Sam is Dead, but the main theme is about how fighting and disputing doesn't solve anything. Many people died during the American Revolution, so really it was just hurting families and ending the lives of great colonists.
While reading this novel,I liked how Tim had many decisions to make. I also liked how the authors wrote the book so people today can feel the same emotions as the colonist back then. This book gave me a better understanding of the war and gave me several different emotions throughout the chapters.
Out of all the comments I read, I really agree with Anna. I especially agreed with her a lot towards the end of the novel. She explained everything well, and gave excellent answers aswell! =)

Hey guys

I feel the author is trying to send a historic and informing message. It is a good book and it's important to read especially if you love to history. My Brother Sam is Dead tells about a family who has one son that is going into the war and a family owned tavern that starts to get very busy. A lot of things are about to happen in the tavern and it's going to get very emotional. I liked a lot of things about this book. It informed me of how hard it is to have a son in war. It gets very frustrating when you have a tavern to run and many important things on your mind such as wondering if your son is going to come home or is my other son is going to help with the tavern when you need it. The BHS student I agree most with is Oriel. I feel she was the most agreeing and very interested in the book just
as I was.

1.) My Brother Sam is Dead was a profound book. I enjoyed the structure of paragraphs and how everything led up to another. The real theme or message of this book is how people really struggled back then and what they went through. The book tells people how the patriots lived their life. Tim went through so much and he just became so brave that he tried to save his brother by almost killing someone else. 2.) What I liked about this book is that it teaches us all a lesson. It teaches us what someone would do for someone else depending on how much they love them. The main character, Tim, sacraficed so much and he did nothing. The war never affected him but the lesson is that you learn what its like to go through a violent war. This descriptive book says so and thats what I liked.
3.) The studnet from our 'sister school' that I agreed with most was Vericona. Her opinions were somewhat similar to mine and her thoughts were intresting. I liked her style and she was very unique with her answers. That is who I connected with most throughout reading this book.
