In the first amendment, we are given five very important rights. One of them is the right to petition the government. This means that if we dislike something that the government is doing, we have the right to ask the government to stop. A strike is an example of petitioning the government because we are sharing our dislike of a formal action with others and of course with the people of the government. You can read about a case concerning the right to petition the government on the page Veronica's page on petitioning the government!
