    BUS RIDES
The bus rides on the way to PEEC and back we're so much fun! I had a great time on both rides. I had already known a couple of kids from Lavallette because I have played soccer with a few kids. So when we got on the bus I just jumped into a seat next to my friend Josh. So basically he introduced me to everybody and made the trip much less awkward and more enjoyable. I didn't exactly stay in one seat the hole time so I was able to spend time with most of the kids from Lavallette and get to know them. The ride back was even better than the ride there because everybody knew eachother, because of having spent two nights with eachother! Everybody knew eachother and made it more enjoyable so we could all sit and talk. Another thing that made the way back more fun was that we got food and we're allowed to eat it on the bus! On the way back I sat with Hailey, Bronson, and Kyle. I've known Kyle for a little while because I have played soccer with him for about a year so I knew that we were going to PEEC together. Anyway, both rides, there and back, were so much fun and I had a great time!

    TEAM BUILDING
Team building was also a lot of fun. When we arrived at PEEC we were split up into groups half of the kids from Lavallette and the other half from Bay Head. Our instructor's name for team building was Mike. He took us through many obstacles. We did many different things such as tossing a ball back and forth in an order with and without talking and we had to do it under 15 seconds at first. Then under 10 seconds! Then under 5 seconds! Then finally under 3 seconds! It sounds crazy I know, but if you use the right strategy it is very possible. Our team ended up doing it in less than 2 seconds! The next thing we did was we had to get 8 people to stand on a little tree stump. It took a while and it didn't seem possible but like I said before, with the right strategy it's possible. Then we did this thing where we had to get everybody in our group through this web that Mike called a spider web, but you could only go through each hole once. But wait! There's more you weren't allowed to touch the web. It was a lot of fun coming up with way to get through the web. I remember I got through a big hole on the side of the web that was connected to the tree. We had the smaller kids go through the smaller holes and the bigger kids got the bigger ones. Once we completed the task one of us yelled out the idea of all going through one hole at once but we didn’t realize that until the end. After that we had one more activity to do before we went back to the cabins. This one was also a lot of fun. We all had to swing from a rope from one branch lying on the ground to another, over about 5 feet of land. Here’s the catch, we weren’t allowed to touch the ground because supposedly it was a rapid river. Also we had to bring three little blocks of wood across in order to win. If anybody touched the ground they would have to go back to the beginning. But if the block of wood dropped, we all had to go back o the beginning. At the end of this task, we all hiked back to the cabin. It was an end to very fun set o activities.

    Two Ponds Trail
Two Ponds Trail wasn’t my favorite thing at PPEC, but I didn’t mind it. It gave us a chance to talk to one another and make the hike more enjoyable. On this hike, like most hikes, we found many newts and other kind of animals. For example we found, toads, frogs, centipedes, millipedes, newts, etc. This also made the hike more exciting

    CONFIDENCE COURSE

The confidence course was a lot of fun. We did all kinds of obstacles that all require balance. The first one we did required you to have to walk across a thin wire from one tree to another but you were allowed t hold onto ropes hanging down. Next we did one that was almost exactly the same except the rope was stretched out in front of you and you could either lean forward or backward. Leaning forward was the easier way to do it. Then we took a little hike to another neck of the woods and did a few more courses. These were much harder. The first one I did was we had to walk across a set of swings that were moving all over the place and it was a very difficult. Next we had to walk across a thin wire with a rope that was connected to the tree so we had to grab it and pull it with us. It was also very hard. After this task we moved onto our second to last activity, which was something where we had to get a partner and we each stepped on a wire and we had to grab each others hands and we would see how far we could walk out without falling because the wire would keep inching out the farther we went along. That was fun. For our last activity of the Confidence Course we had to walk across a log from one tree to another this was pretty easy, but that concluded the Confidence Course.

    WILDLIFE
Wildlife studies were pretty fun. Once again, Mike was our instructor. I remember we played this one game, I don’t remember the name of it but it was still fun. The game was that we would have most of us stand in a line and do some sort of symbol that either meant food, water, or habitat. One person was a deer and he would run and tag someone who was one of those three things and then they would become a deer. Then later we played another game, which had something to do with bats. It was just like Marco Polo with few variations. Those of us who weren’t plying would stand in a circle around everybody else. There were 3 people that were called moths and a bat. The bat wore a blindfold and would yell out “bat” and the moths would answer back “moth.” As you can see it’s just like Marco Polo. It was a fun activity that put an end to our wildlife studies.

    BONFIRE
The bonfire was a lot of fun. We all hiked to a little place where there were logs set up for us to sit on. In front of the logs was a little fire pit. It took our instructor a little while to finally get the fire going, but he did get it going eventually. The bonfire activity started at 9 o’ clock and ended at 10 o’ clock. We all sat around the fire talking, laughing, sitting around, and eating smores. It was a great time and the smores were excellent. It was a perfect end to a wonderful day.

    CANOEING
Canoeing was so much fun. We all got up in the morning ate breakfast and marched down to the lake where we canoed. It started at about 9 o’ clock. I was in a canoe together with Josh and Connor. Our guides name was Anthony. He showed those of us who have never been canoeing before, or if we didn’t know how, how to canoe. When we got out onto the lake we had a lot of fun. I remember one of the kids in my group had a canoe with a leak in it, and if you were sitting in the middle you would have gotten soaked. The canoes could hold up to four people in them. Our entire group took up 4 canoes. My group had 3 kids in the canoe, Anna’s group had 3 kids in the canoe, Anthony’s group had 3 kids in it, and Danielle’s group had 4 kids in it. It was a lot of fun canoeing; I remember that my group came up with an idea that we would play bumper cars. We would steer the boat and go as fast as possible and hit another boat. It was so much fun, but, like every other thing we did at PEEC, it had to end.

    ORIENTEERING
Next we went orienteering. This was also a lot of fun. We had the same instructor and he brought us out into the woods by this tree that had a sign on it. He gave us a compass and a clipboard with a map on it. On the map were points that marked an area in the woods. He showed us how to use both the compass and map. Then we did what he told us and we went off to a point in the woods and when we found it we would come back to him. I was again with Josh and Connor. When we got to a few points he gave us a series of points to go to. It was a lot of fun and then it ended.

    STREAM STUDIES
Stream Studies was pretty fun too. Our instructors name was Miranda. We learned a little bit about aquatic things and then we went on a very long walk to a stream that she said she has never been to before. When we arrived at the stream we got a bucket, filled it with water, and then got a spoon. Once we got these things we began. We started looking through the water and lifting up rocks to find water animals. We found all sorts of insects and other animals that I never even knew existed. Then we stopped and learned about all the things we found. Then we began our long hike back to the cabins.

    FOSSIL TRAIL
The Fossil Trail was a trail that we took when we got back from Stream Studies. Nobody wanted to take it, everybody was tired and wanted to just chill, but the teachers decided to take a hike in order to kill time. It was a very long hike right across from our cabins. We found a bunch of newts and named them. When we finished the hike we sat around a place where some schools have a bonfire. Then the teachers told us that we were allowed to go to the basketball courts and play basketball. So me and a few other kids went to the basketball courts for a little bit before lunch.

    ZELENKA
During Zelenka, an elderly man came to the main building ad we all sat around him. He talked to us about all kinds of animals and did some magic. He showed us so many different animals it was really cool. He showed us bugs, insects, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, etc. I remember he called two kids out of the audience, Sydne and Bronson, and put a huge snake around their waists. He showed us so many different animals, for example, he showed us a bunny, a tarantula, snakes, millipedes, centipedes, a chinchilla, an alligator, and many more. It was one of my favorite activities of the trip.

    ASTRONOMY
During astronomy we had two different instructors but I don’t remember their names. The first instructor I was with did this thing with us where she gave us cards and with an astronomy fact on them and we had to read it in an exciting, creative way and the teachers were the judges. They judged us on who was the best and gave us first, second, and third place for whoever did the best. Next we went into another room and we did this activity with another instructor. The activity we did was something with play dough and the instructor told us to split it into pieces and then split that into pieces and so on and so forth. We also got these sheets of paper with names of planets. When she told us to put the play dough on one of the planets we did it and it was ridiculous how small some of the planets were, but then the activity ended and we moved on.

    NIGHT HIKE
The Night Hike took place after astronomy and we had one of the same instructors. She brought us out into the woods to the same place that we went orienteering. Then we did an activity, it was kind of like a magic trick. It was called the disappearing head trick. You stare at some ones head for a period of time at night in the dark and then the persons head just disappears because your eyes are trying to pick out the shapes and colors on your face but since it’s so dark your eyes can’t see it so they just give up and then the head just disappears. Then we went out farther into the woods and did another activity. She gave us candy and half of us would put the candy in our mouth and bite down really hard several times and if you were looking into their mouths you could see the candy sparking. Then we went out even farther into the woods and we did one of our last activities, it was called the solo walk or something like that. The teachers and instructors walked us out about 30 feet farther and our instructor walked back. Then one at a time our teachers sent us down to the instructor. When this was done we walked back toward the cabins and then stopped. When we stopped she had all of us put one hand over our eyes and then she told us a story about pirates. When the story was over she had all of us take our hands off our eyes and we could see so much better in the dark. Then we walked back to the cabin and it was another perfect end to an even better day.

    TUMBLING WATERS
Tumbling Waters was the last activity that we did at PEEC. It was also the only activity that we all did together. It was about a 3-mile hike. 1.5 miles there and 1.5 miles back. We stopped a couple times along the way and took some pictures. One time we stopped on like an open area where you could see everything because you were so high up and there were no trees blocking the way. We took several pictures. After the pictures we kept walking and then stopped again a little later on in front of this fireplace in the middle of nowhere. We took some more pictures there. Then we kept going. When we finally reached the end of our walk we stopped by a waterfall. We spent a long time there and explored and talked and took pictures and skipped rocks and I remember Oriel fell in the water! We had a great time and then we had to go back. Then we finally got back from our 3-mile hike.
